Position : Addictions/ Mental Health therapist
Alexis Highsmith is an Addictions/Mental Health therapist with 13 years of experience in providing case management counseling and mental health therapy for adults, children and families suffering from the effects of drug and alcohol addiction.
Ms. Highsmith is a Registered Clinical Social Work Intern in the State of Florida with training in play therapy, infant mental health, and trauma-focused therapy. She has experience working in the fields of social services, mental health, and substance abuse in Leona and Palm Beach County since 2001. Ms. Highsmith received a certificate in Professional Counseling from Capella University in 2010 and went on to receive her Master of Science degree in Counseling Studies from Capella University in 2012.
Alexis began her career in social work providing case management services and counseling to adolescents in Tallahassee, Florida for over 5 years. When her desire to provide more clinical and therapeutic services grew, Alexis began working with a Federal Healthy Start program in Gadsden County, Florida. There she provided case management and mental health therapy to women of child-bearing ages of 14-21.
In 2012 Alexis relocated to Palm Beach County. There she has had extensive work as an outpatient therapist, providing mental health and substance abuse therapy to children, adolescents and adults in her community, and as an MHOS therapist, providing mental health therapy to adolescent in a juvenile correction facility. Alexis has also supervised BSW and MSW interns from local and State colleges and universities.
Treatment of individuals suffering from mental health and addiction issues is a personal passion.
